The Queen Mother of Sakumono, a suburb of Accra, Naa Borley Wulu II, has accused the Tema West Municipal Assembly for deliberate refusal to help the community to get rid of encroachers, miscreants and also to demolish slums in the community.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian Voice at Sakumono, the Queen mother expressed shock as to why the Assembly has failed to prevent miscreants who had been smoking and having sex in schools’ classrooms.
The situation, Naa Borley Wulu II gathered, has paved way for squatters and many other encroachers to put up all manner of makeshift structures on the land.
According to her, she had written series of letters to them and contacted the Chief Executive Officer of Tema West Municipal Assembly, Madam Adwoa Amoako on several occasions to address the situation going on in the Sakumono village but has refused to come to their aid.
Naa Borley Wulu II, also pointed out that four acres of land the Forestry Commission released to the Sakumono Divisional Council upon the request by the Sakumono Mantse (chief), Nii Alabi Gbene, for a community project in the area has been taken over by Noah Afutu, brother of the Sakumono Chief who parades himself as a pastor had engage the services of land-guards.
She noted that the four acres of land released to the community had been sold to individuals who had build houses and churches on it instead of the community project which would benefit the residents.
Naa Borley Wulu II, expressed her displeasure over the sale of the land which is earmarked for the community project to benefit residents of the area.
She therefore appealed to the government, especially the Ghana Police Service and the Tema West Municipal Assembly to as a matter of urgency to double their efforts to flash out miscreants and encroachers from the Sakumono village.
