Speaker Of Parliament  Petitioned Over Criminal Conduct Of MPs

An eminent citizen, Mr Kwesi Dawood has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to conduct thorough investigations into the criminal conducts of two unruly MPs and to punish them accordingly for stated criminal conducts and documented misbehavior unbecoming of MPs.

The petition names Mavis Hawa Koomson of Awutu Senya East and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong of Assin Central Constituencies as the offending Legislators and humbly prays the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament to institute probe into their conducts and be made to suffer the necessary punishment should they be found liable for the alleged stated wrong doings.

Below is the full statement:

HON. KENNEDY AGYAPONG
(MP FOR ASSIN CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY)
AND
HON. MAVIS HAWA KOOMSON
(MP FOR AWUTU SENYA EAST CONSTITUENCY)
THE HUMBLE PETITION OF MR. KWASI DAWOOD IS TO THE EXTENT:

  1. That the petitioner is a Ghanaian and a native of Agona Swedru in the
    Central Region of Ghana with his address being NB 53/6, SALEM STREET,
    AGONA SWEDRU.
  2. That the persons whom this petition is against are Members of Parliament
    for Assin Central Constituency and Awutu Senya East Constituency
    respectively, both in the Central Region of Ghana.
  3. That the persons whom this petition is against were at the time of their
    actions and still are Members of Parliament.
  4. That there is prima facie evidence showing specific unruly actions taken
    by the said Members of Parliament which are un-parliamentary, inimical
    to democracy, pose grave danger to life and property of citizens of Ghana
    as well as a threat to the peace and security of the State.
  5. That their actions should be propped and when found liable must suffer
    the appropriate sanctions as the laws of Ghana and the authority of
    Parliament permit.
  6. That the petitioner shall avail himself and provide any information to the
    Speaker of Parliament or anybody constituted by the Parliament of Ghana
    should Parliament call on him to do so.

PARTICULARS OF UNRULY CONDUCT OF HON. KENNEDY AGYAPONG

  1. That in the last days of December 2020, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong appeared
    on NET2 TV , without giving a speck of evidence accused former President
    John Dramani Mahama (H.E.), Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia (General
    Secretary of the National Democratic Congress), Mr. Joshua Akamba
    (National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress), the former
    National Security Adviser Lieutenant Colonel (rtd) Larry Gbevlo-Lartey,
    Hon. Baba Jamal (former MP for Akwatia Constituency) of burning
    fourteen market stalls. An act of arson.
  2. That he Hon. Kennedy Agyapong together with others will burn down the
    house of former president John D. Mahama located at Chain Homes as
    well as burn the former president himself. A threat of arson and death.
  3. That he Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and others will equally burn the homes
    of all the other persons referred to in paragraph one. A threat of arson.
  4. That the aforementioned persons in paragraph one have stated that
    between the day of his commentary and the next Saturday, they will burn
    down the Kumasi market and the Cape Coast markets.
  5. That Hon. Kennedy Agyapong proceeded to use unprintable words of insults against the aforementioned persons.

PARTICULARS OF UNRULY CONDUCT OF HON. MAVIS HAWA KOOMSON

1. That Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson visited Step to Christ polling station in

the Awutu Senya East Constituency on Monday 20th July 2020 during the
voter registration exercise in the company of some well-built men to
disrupt the registration process.

2. That the men in her company and under her orders physically assaulted
persons including persons with disability, seized the mobile phones of
persons who attempted to record their acts of vandalism and fired
gunshots at the crowd which had showed up for the registration exercise.

3. That the Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson and her thugs burnt down a
motorbike belonging to one of those who had showed up to be registered.

4. That the Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson later on the same Monday July 20th
2020 in a television interview with Adom TV unreservedly admitted that
she indeed fired the gun at the said polling station at that material time.


WHEREFORE the petitioner humbly prays as follows:
(i)
That the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament institute a
probe into the conduct of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and Hon.
Mavis Hawa Koomson relative to the above mentioned
conducts.
(ii)
That the Honourable members petitioned against be made to
suffer the necessary punishment should they be found liable
for the alleged wrong doings.
