Seven ASTEC Students Test Positive For Covid-19

Seven Students of the Ada Senior High Technical School, ASTEC, in the Ada West District have tested positive for Coronavirus.

The District Chief Executive Hon. Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi who disclosed this to journalists at Sege said all the seven students have been moved out of the school and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Security, he noted, has been beefed up to ensure that no student sneaks out of the school or outsiders enter the school premises.

Mr. Akrofi revealed that the virus was detected after blood sample of a student who exhibited signs of the disease was tested at the Noguchi Memorial Institute the following day.

The other six students he also hinted were identified during a contact tracing for all students and teachers on campus. The MCE further noted that plans are far advanced by the District Assembly to fumigate the entire school for the second time.

Mr. Akrofi who believes that the student carrier imported the virus from home said parents of the affected students were swiftly notified and are cooperating with the school authorities to prevent further spread.

Adherence to safety precautions in the school he added are strictly being observed. Meanwhile, security is beefed up at the campus to forestall escalation of infection.
