A security institution located in Accra, Corporate Protection Security, CPS, together with Vodafone led by one Ato Lindsay who also works at the Office of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is using his status as a staff of the office of the Vice President’s to demolish properties belonging to residents of Sakumono Community 14, opposite NTHC Estate enclave near the E-block.
Ato Lindsay, has resorted to using Corporate Protection Security, CPS, who invariably storm the area to demolish properties belonging to the individuals.
The said land on which Ato Lindsay demolished properties illegally with the aid of the CPS without recourse to due process was originally acquired by the Government of Ghana because of the Tema harbour in 1952 and was later given to the Tema Development Corporation, TDC, in 1956.
Speaking to the media in Accra, a resident and member of the Kingmakers of Nii Odaitse We of Nungua, Nii Kwei Mensah, stated that they purchased the land from the Nungua Stool some years back.
According to him, while developing the land, the TDC who has power over the land instructed residents to regularize the land with them because they are the constitutional mandatory body to regularized lands belonging to the government.
Nii Kwei Mensah noted that after regularization, TDC issued them with the land title, making them the owners of the land.
He therefore called on President Akufo-Addo to ensure that Ato Lindsay of the Vice President’s office, who is being used as a tool for the demolition be brought to book.
Nii Kwei Mensah also asked Ato Lindsay and the CPS to contact TDC to address their concerns but not to demolish people’s properties.
The case has since been reported to the Sakumono Police Command for further investigations.
