Sacrifice To Serve God And Humanity – Men Of God Charged

The Accra Archdiocese of the Catholic Church of Ghana has ordained three Priests into the Society of Jesus Priesthood at the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, Batsonaa in Accra.

The newly ordained priests included; Reverend Evans Adomako Appiah, Reverend Eyrah Foli and Reverend Gustav Kpeyibor were ushered into the Priesthood by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie.

The colourful ceremony attracted members of the various parishes where the priests came from, as well as a host of Catholic faithful, including priests, family members and other religious leaders.

It was also a time of merrymaking as friends, relatives and loved ones came from far and near to celebrate with the newly ordained priests.

In his homily, a retired Priest from the Jesuit House in Cape Coast, Very Reverend Father Hinfrey, charged the newly ordained priests to be committed to the Church’s values and sacrifice for one another to enjoy God’s blessings.

He said a good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep and enjoined all and sundry to be prepared to sacrifice for others to have life.

Very Reverend Father Hinfrey explained that a good Shepherd must show love to others irrespective of the feud with the person.

He also urged them to be concerned about the welfare of the congregation and prioritise the interest of society but not the parochial benefits of a few.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie, urged the newly ordained priests to remain holy and spotless and endeavour to live through love in his presence as they continually avail themselves to the sacraments of penance and reconciliation.

He entreated them to dispense their pastoral duties with zeal and faithfulness and also lead the young ones to understand God through the difficulties of their lives and to follow him selflessly.

Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie led the prayer of ordination for the new priests and placed into their hands a chalice containing wine and gave each of them fraternal kisses meaning peace be with them.

The Society of Jesus is a group of pastors, teachers, and chaplains. They are also
District of the 24th of member of St. which include doctors, lawyers, and astronomers, among
many other roles in Church and Society.
