Police Runs For Cover At Old Ningo

Police personnel from Old Ningo in the Ningo-Prampram District in their quest to arrest assault suspects had to ran for their lives as hooligans suspects came after them.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday August 23, 2020 at Omankorpe, a suburb of Old Ningo, when the five police officers and some assault victim went to arrest the suspects, who attacked the complainants two days earlier leaving the stool priest of the Bantama Kabiaweh Clan of Old Ningo, Nene Ayitah critically wounded and admitted to the Battor Catholic Hospital.

According to Nene Ayitah, a member of the attacked faction, the Ningo Traditional Council pronounced judgement on an issue between the two factions in their favour and on their way back home amidst jubilation, the guilty faction attacked them with machetes, clubs, and metals inflicting wounds of several people as a result of which Nene Ayitah is currently in a serious condition.

It is believed that one Police officer stationed at Sogakope, Stephen Tetteh Oman is the alleged instigator of the incident because of his interest in the case which was adjudicated against his side.

The Ningo Prampram District Police Commander, DSP Issah Mohammed Cantona who confirmed the incident to Ghanaianvoiceonline said the people were many and could overpower his men, hence their retreat.

DSP Cantona who disclosed that the suspects have been invited for questioning today failure of which they will be arrested with re-enforcemnent was appalled at the alleged involvement of the law enforcement officer who should know better.

The Ningo-Prampram District Police Commander added that he will not hesitate to report the said policeman who promised to bring the suspects to the station to authorities if he misconduct himself.
