The Inter-Party Resistance Against a New Voters’ Register (IPRNA) have hit the streets of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to demonstrate against the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC).
IPRNA is mainly made up of opposition parties including; National Democratic Congress (NDC), All People’s Congress (APC) and People’s National Convention (PNC).
They embarked on the demonstration to protest the EC’s decision to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 general elections.
The first protest to challenge plans of the new register was held at Tamale in the Northern region.
The group insists a new register is a waste of taxpayers’ money and could also create tension since the election is close.
The group is unconvinced by the EC’s defense for the creation of a new register.
