The Chiefs and people of the Opah Traditional Area in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region of Ghana have appealed to the government and other stakeholders to construct a Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) Compound to cater to their health needs in the area.
The unavailability of health facilities in the community has forced residents to access healthcare from nearby towns like Amasaman, Nsawam, and other neighboring communities before they can access healthcare.
Speaking at the sideline of the annual Homowo celebration at Opah over the weakened, the Paramount Chief of Opah Traditional Area, Nii Ayitey Okuaonsuro I, appealed to the government, the Ministry of Health, and philanthropists to help construct a health facility that would facilitate effective healthcare delivery in the Opah Community.
“We face a lot of challenges when it comes to issues related to health. Our people in need of urgent health services are compelled to travel to nearby communities to receive medical attention,” he said.
Nii Ayitey Okuaonsuro I decried the sad reality that where Opah community is without health facilities over the years to cater to the health needs of the people.
Nii Opah stated that the Chiefs of the area have made available vast acres of land to support the construction of a CHPS Compound for the community.
“My Chiefs and I have made available vast acres of land for the building of a CHPS Compound in the area with acres of land. The land is ready with all the necessary documentation”. Nii Opa stated.
Touching on employment, he called on individuals and investors to establish industries in the town to create jobs for the people.
Nii Ayitey Okuaonsuro I, also appealed to the government to extend a helping hand to the community with the One District One Factory and other flagship projects.
He disclosed that his administration is prepared to release a large tract of land to support and assist the government in initiating One District One Factory in the community.
“If the community becomes a beneficiary of One District One Factory to ameliorate the plight of my people, it will help jobless youth in the area to obtain jobs, create wealth and contribute their quota towards the growth and development of the town.
Nii Ayitey Okuaonsuro I, therefore admonished the youth to stay away from social voices that would ruin their future.
