Information gathered by Ghanaianvoiceonline indicated that, the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, NSS, Mustapha Ussif, is smuggling non-residents to the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency in the North-East region to participate in the voters’ registration exercise.
Mustapha Ussif who is also the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Parliamentary Candidate of the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency has arranged for the importation of thousands of aliens to partake in the registration process in the Constituency, with a further promise to reward the drivers.
Since the beginning of the exercise on Tuesday, June 30, the National, Democratic Congress, NDC, and the NPP in some Constituencies have been at loggerheads as the NDC refuses to allow non-constituents to register.
Our checks from the Constituency also indicates that People were brought as far as from Nima, Mamobi, Ashaiman all suburbs of Accra, using buses belonging to the National Service Scheme
Some of the people who were interviewed by this portal shows that those bused didn’t come from Yagaba-Kubori Constituency but are being conveyed there to register.
Speaking in an interview with a resident from the Constituency who spoke on condition of anonymity said busing of people from other Constituency to register is an attempt by the NPP candidate to manipulate the polls.
According to him, the Executive Director of the NSS is violating the electoral laws of the Electoral Commission.
“People were being brought in from adjoining constituencies as well as other parts of the country to register to decide to elect an MP for us, it won’t happen”. He said.
He has further warned that he will match them boot for boot if the decision is not rescinded.
