The Noryaa Benevolent Foundation (NBF), a non-governmental organisation, on Sunday, 29th November 2020, donated a brand new Royal Motorbike worth four thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 4,000.00) and an undisclosed amount of money to Daniel Nii Ayi Hammond, a native of Opah community in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region of Ghana.
Daniel Nii Ayi Hammond, 41, was shot in the right leg with a pump-action gun by self-acclaim Chief of Oblieman, Nii Ayitey Anumlie Oyanka I, in a violent incident in August 2019, last year.
The victim of gun violence has undergone successful surgery and discharged from the Accra regional hospital.
As part of their community-based livelihood sustainability project in the Ga West Municipality of Accra, the Noryaa Benevolent Foundation identified Daniel’s need for this support to facilitate his physical and economic recovery, hence made this donation as a contribution to support the sustenance of his livelihood and family after this unfortunate incident.
Presenting the Motorbike to the victim of gun violence, Daniel Nii Ayi Hammond, the Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation, Alhaji Ussif Mohammed, condemned the shooting incident which occurred on Friday; 16th August 2019, and called on residents of the community to denounce violence and seek the appropriate compensation for the victim in due course.
Receiving the donations on behalf of Daniel Nii Ayi Hammond, the Chief Linguist (Okyeame) of Opah Traditional Area, Nii Okyeame Odartey II and the Queen of Opah Traditional Area, Naa Dedei Tseku II, expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this exemplary gesture of the Noryaa Benevolent Foundation to the victim and pledged their support for the activities of the foundation in the Ga West Municipality.
They wished Daniel Nii Ayi Hammond well and prayed for his full recovery from this violent incident to get back on his feet.
Among the dignitaries present at the donation were Chief Nii Abbey Okanfrah I, the Development Chief of Sarpeiman community, who is the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Ussif Mohammed, Mr. Aminu Seidu, Mr. Anos Nana Ankumah, and Hon. Gamel Kabore Abubakar, the Assembly Member for the Sarpeiman community.
