As part of its efforts to increase votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general election, the Odododiodoo Constituency of the party has inaugurated the Makola Special branch for traders within the Makola market around Tudu in the Greater Accra region.
The move was to propagate the good works by the former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC and to maximise votes in the market during elections 2020.
In his address, the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker, congratulated all the Mokola Special branch executives for their contribution in the formation of the branch.
He challenged the newly executives to bring more members in and take their roles serious by ensuring that they preach the good work of the NDC.
The Greater Accra regional Women Organiser, Mrs. Felicia Mekpoi-Bortey, who sworn the newly executives into office encouraged them to work hard to bring back the party into power adding that; the NDC is the only party that can build Ghana better.
She then called on the market women fraternity to come together, and ensure that the NPP government is voted out of power.
Mrs. Mekpoi-Bortey noted that women are the most victims in the current predicaments in the country, and therefore, the market women should join the campaign to ensure that the NDC is voted back into power.
She charged the women to work hard, and that if the party came back into power, such women would benefit remarkably.
Mrs. Mekpoi-Bortey admonished the women to put up good behaviour towards others in order to make the party appealing to others.
In her acceptance speech, the Chairperson of the Makola branch Madam Salomey Shasha Martei, expressed her profound gratitude to all members for making the inauguration a great success.
She also thanked members and promised to work hard for the party to bring back NDC to power.
Madam Salomey Shasha Martei noted that the educational system in the country is regrettable adding; the promise made by Nana Akufo-Addo to give each Constituency a million dollar had not come forth leaving the Constituency in poverty.
She noted that as a result of the government’s, which many banks were collapsed, many people had lost their jobs and the market women had also lost their business capital.
Madam Salomey Shasha Martei urged all to support the Makola special branch and NDC to bring former President Mahama back in power to relieve Ghanaians from the hardship in the country.
The Organiser of the Makola special branch, David Kpodo stated that branch was purposely opened to help the women in the Mokola market who could not have time to attend meetings at their various branches.
According to him this would bring together all on board in form of a partnership to support the party to win the coming election 2020.
Mr. Kpodo stated that the Makola special branch started with 50 members but now we can boost with over 350 and was hopeful that other who sell at the market will also join them.
The executives included; Madam Salomey Shasha Martei as branch Chairperson, Innocetia Dorkenu as Secretary, David Kpodo as Organiser, Dora Mensah as Treasurer and Evans Largah as the Communications Officer.
