The Leader of African People’s Liberation Movement, Dr. Ebenezer Dereh Mbongo Akwanga says the only way Africans can change the unpleasant trajectory for the overall progress of the continent is to first liberate their mentality and psyche towards one another, regardless of where they find themselves.
According to him, is it unfortunate that Africa produces everything and has nothing, a situation he attributed to the disunity and disintegration of Africans, saying Africans do not help one another, as a result of which A lot has been taken from the continent.
He made the remarks when the Community Enhancement Foundation in collaboration with the Ebenezer Akwanga Human Rights and Humanitarian Institute donated brand new clothes, shoes, computers and hospital consumables worth over 150 thousand dollars to ten educational, health and religious institutions in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The beneficiaries are; Kpoglo Assorgor, Akpedzakorpe, Avata, Sonto and Amutinu Basic Schools, AME Zion Basic School and Klikor Unity Basic School. The rest are the Tokor Islamic Basic at Aflao, the Ketu South Municipal Education Directorate and the Municipal Hospital at Aflao.
Dr. Akwanga noted that to reverse the worrying trend hinges on education to invoke the spirit of Pan-Africanism which is not all about politics or bringing Africa under one umbrella, but to act and impact Africa irrespective of one’s geographical location.
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Emerging African States further implored Africans to consider themselves as nationals of any African nation they reside in, an act which to him engenders unity, strenght and purposefulness towards the liberation of the continent.
The Assembly Member.for the Amutinu-Salakorpe Electoral and teacher at the Amutinu Basic School, Kumawu Sylvester who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries said, a lot of the pupils come to school barefooted, or walk in town without dress on for lack of such necessities.
The gesture he stressed will go a long way to boost the children’s self esteem before their other peers, and raise their confidence level academically.
