Many a times, people show love, concern and fellow feeling based on the moment they find themselves, or the emotions attached.
Days have passed, weeks have faded and parents have been sitting at the front door of their houses waiting to hear something new from the police, but no, they are on a wild goose chase!!!
Police sirens have blown through the streets of Takoradi, followed by ambulances. Each sound turns a waiting parent’s intestines upside down. No one feels the way she felt with, and the police doesn’t care anymore.
This feeling kills the appetite of a waiting parent who has refused to accept what the police are saying. They just want their kids back as promised.
What happened to the word such as, ” _WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE, THEY ARE SAFE, AND WE WILL SOON CONNECT THEM BACK TO THEIR FAMILIES? “
I feel for a caring mother whose tears can not be wiped off, whose expectations have been cut short, but still believes it has just been delayed. She still lives in a state of disbelief, but still have expectations.
Like the father of the biblical prodigal son, they know their kids will come home one day .
How safe are we in the hands of our government and its security who sees everything as politics?
Canadians will trust their government anyday, because they are rest assured that, even if they are in a hole beneath the surface of the earth, their government will dig them out like they did in kumasi when their citizens (girls) were kidnapped.
The parents of the kidnapped Ghanaian girls may have given up on the government, but they have not given up on God.
Can the everyday Ghanian, media persons, walk a mile with you? This question can be best answered at funerals where the dead even gets shocked with the words espoused and the tears shed.
When the corpse is being lifted for burial, that is when the African hypocrisy comes at its best. I will go with you etc, but each time the corpse goes alone.
After the funeral rites, we assure the mourners we will be there for them, but we hardly do.
The parents of the Takoradi girls have been left to their fate. The rest is left with them and their God.
I pray for strength, I pray for endurance and I pray for a miracle in their lives .
Let’s keep hope alive because this is the only police we have, but I can assure you there are better days ahead .
