Greater Accra Yoruba Community Doff Hats for Security Initiative In Southwest State

The Greater Accra regional President of Yoruba Community in Ghana, Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi, has lauded the idea of the introduction of Regional Security Network by the Governors of the six Southwest states of Nigeria.

The States included, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos and the concept of Regional Security Network tagged “Amotekun” – meaning leopard in Yoruba language.

This was contained in a press release issued and signed in Accra by the Greater Accra regional President of Yoruba Community in Ghana, Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi on January 15, 2020.

He strongly believe is a creative initiative to tackle insecurity that as in recent time ravage the country.

Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi stated that such network is meant to provide intelligence to the Nigeria Police Force with the understanding that the local hunter or indigenous personnel is well informed on the security challenges of its environ.

According to him, as an expert in security, he think with proper collaboration and intelligence gathering they can put to end menace like kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi think Nigeria Police is overwhelmed with several incidences of insecurity due to inadequate logistics and personnel hence moves by the Southwest Governor should be commended as a support to ensure lives are protected.

He pointed out that the Yoruba people in Diaspora have keen interest on the happening back home in Nigeria and anything that will bring development to all OODUA states is of great interest to the community.

“As a leader am proud to be identify with the impressive moves by all Southwest Governors to have a united front to tackle this insecurity putting their political differences aside, this is quite laudable”. Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi stated.

“…… and I also the view of the General Secretary of the community Akinsanya Bola”. He added.

Oloye Amb. Oyeyemi Fatuyi urged the government of Nigeria not to play politics or ethnic sentiment with the lives of Nigerians, asking question to how Joint Task Force (JTF) and Hisbah outfit in the North is different from AMOTEKUN West.

He also appealed to the Nigerian government to take security issue serious because without a safe environment the economy and other sectors can not strive effectively saying; many investors all over the world would wish to come into Nigeria however many are skeptical due to insecurity.
