The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa has confirmed Nene Tekpetey Dadah Tetteyga V as the legitimate Chief Of Ada Foah.
In a ruling and judgement delivered by the panel members of the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday June 8, 2021, the House affirmed, that Nene Tekpetey Dadah Tetteyga V, was legitimately nominated, elected, installed and enstooled.
The judgement seeks to create fairness and justice among the family members.
A press statement issued in Accra and signed by the Stool Father of the Tetteyga Family, Nomo Justice Dugbatey Pobee, said the judgment set aside an earlier ruling by the Judicial Committee of the Ada Traditional Council whose decision was found not to be based on the records of proceedings or the evidence adduced before it.
Background of the case:
The Tetteyga family has 7 gates namely;
1. Nanor Kokotey Gate
2. Dadah Gate
3. Dede Nmonmloki Gate
4. Agbloe Gate
5. Dugbartey Gate
6. Sappor Gate
7. Dornor Gate
The Agbloe gate, has been given the position of Asafoatsegua of the clan ( lomobiawe) Dede is the female.
Chieftaincy in Ada foah should automatically rotate between the 5 gates namely;
1. Nanor Gate
2. Dadah Gate
3. Dugbartey Gate
4. Sappor Gate
5. Dornor Gate
The statement further stated that the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs on the 8th June, 2021, confirmed that chieftaincy in Ada foah should rotate between the five gates.
It said after the first face of rotation, the Nanor Kokotey gate has taken their turn. Currently it’s the turn of the Dadah gate, therefore Nene Tekpetey Dadah Tetteyga V, was legitimately nominated, selected, installed, outdoor and received at the Ada Traditional Council on the 8th March, 2019 by Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, the Paramount Chief and the President of the Ada Traditional Council.
The statement further pointed out that the Dugbartey Gate was in contention that the chieftaincy should rotate only between the gates of;
1. Nanor Kokotey
It noted that the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has rejected the position of the Dugbartey gate as baseless and not grounded on any documented records, customs, traditions or norms of the people of Ada Foah who inherited paternally.
The same Dugbartey gate stood against the Sappor gate for 25 years in similar disagreement that delayed the progress and the development of the town.
The statement concluded that the Committee is therefore cautioning all those against the legitimacy of Nene Tekpetey Dadah Tetteyga V, to stay away
It warned that by this judgement , all those who engage in transactions relating to the Tetteyga family property with unauthorised and self acclaimed Chiefs in Ada Foah should stop, adding that they do so at their own risk.
