The Chief of Gbee Womli Apenkwa in the Adenta Municipality of the Greater Accra region of Ghana, Nii Adjetey Obourbour II, has been awarded as Peace Ambassador by the Universal Peace Federation, UPF, in Accra.
He was nominated along seven other eminent persons under the the UPF, an organisation in General Consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
The prestigious awards which carries United Nation’s endorsement is a global alliance of individuals and organisations dedicated to building a world of peace in which we live in freedom, harmony, corporation and co-prosperity for all.
It is guided by a vision of humanity as one global family of God, living in accordance with universal principles.
It also draws her membership from Ambassadors for peace who are committed to the vision of UPF.
Over the years, the Chief of Gbee Womli Apenkwa, Nii Adjetey Obourbour II, has been working assiduously to help to promote and consolidate peace in his community, Greater Accra and Ghana as a whole.
Nii Adjetey Obourbour II, who had lived exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others and dedicate himself of promoting universal moral values, strong family life, interreligious and international harmony.
Addressing the media after the award, he expressed his profound gratitude to UPF for the honour done him and pledged his readiness to continuously lead the agenda for peace in order to make the Greater Accra and Ghana a safer place for all and sundry.
According to him, as a Peace Ambassador, he will not renege on his duty of consolidating peace in Ghana and always avail himself to duty.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaianvoiceonline.com. the National Secretary General of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Ghana, Dr. Helen Osei, underscored the need for the awardees to work towards sustaining peace in Ghana and globally.
Stressing that, there is the need for them to promote the values of interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universal values.
Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an international and interreligious network of individuals and organizations, including representatives from religion, government, civil society, and the private sectors dedicated to achieving world peace.
It has a general NGO consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, supporting the work of the United Nations, particularly in the areas of interfaith peacebuilding, peace education, and the strengthening of marriage and family.
It was founded by Rev. Sun Myeun Moon in 2005, it has a special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN.
