The President of the Inner City Tribal Chiefs, Chief Dr. Mohammed Sungtaaba, have expressed fear and concern, following the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic in Ghana.
According to him, due to the porous nature of our borders without proper checks and scrutiny, have a high tendency to import the disease from their countries.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanaian Voice in Accra, Chief Dr. Sungtaaba said the number of foreigners, especially from the neighbouring countries, without any reliable record on them is a cause for concern.
He noted that aside these, there are several illegal routes along Ghana’s borders where smugglers and others use to enter the country without any checks.
Chief Dr. Sungtaaba stated that is imperative for the government and other agencies to as a matter of urgency put proper measures at the various borders to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Chief Dr. Sungtaaba who is also the Chairman of the Sungtaaba VVIP said they have adopted precautionary measures by providing hand washing facilities, hand gloves, nose mask and hand sanitizers at the bus terminal to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.
He also expressed concern about the directives by the President on the ban on social gathering which according to him is affecting their businesses.
