The Kudjragbe Clan of the Ada Traditional Area has petitioned the Ada Divisional Police Command to intervene to avert a possible chieftaincy clash between two factions of the clan in an emerging chieftaincy dispute over a successor to the Asofoatse-ngua Tsatsu Pediator IV.
The Mensah-Wem gate after the death of Asofoatse-ngua Tsatsu Pediator IV installed one Godwin Tsatsu Mensah as the new Asofoatse-ngua for the Kudjragbe Clan, whilst the Ametor/Owulah-Wem gate also installed a different Asofoatse-ngua who runs parallel to Godwin Tsatsu Mensah.
The development which is gathering momentum has the tendency to escalate in the once peaceful and respected Clan.
The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abraham Kabu Akuaku lll in the quest to resolve the issue constituted a nine-member panel to look into the matter after a petition was filed by the Mensah-Wem gate.
However, tension keeps heightening in the clan as the Mensah-Wem gate accuses the Paramount Chief of unnecessary delay in making public the report to the involving parties after the committee has handed it to him.
In a new petition signed by the secretary of the Mensah-Wem gate, Aaron Kofi Agbozo to the Ada Police Command, the Mensah-Wem gate is pleading with the Police Command and relevant stakeholders to come to their aid and also impress on the Paramountcy to unveil the report which they believe will forestall a possible violent clash between them.
The two factions earlier on Monday 31st August,2020 nearly clashed at the forecourt of the Ada Traditional Council when they suspected that some people were going to introduce one of the two parallel Asofoatse-ngua to the council during the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey’s visit to the traditional Council. It took the timely intervention by the police to avoid the near clash which could have resulted in blood bath.
Meanwhile, in a closed-door meeting with the Paramount Chief, the Regional Minister has charged the traditional authorities to swiftly resolve all the chieftaincy disputes in the area to make for a peaceful atmosphere.
The Ada paramountcy has over the years come under a barrage of criticism for creating a number of chieftaincy disputes through its inactions, giving rise to several misunderstandings between Clan heads and gates.
