The hasty transfer of some Traditional Council registrars in the Greater Accra Region has stirred emotions among Paramount, Divisional and Sub-Chiefs, as well as other traditional authorities in the Greater Accra Region.
A letter dated 2nd July,2021 and signed by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs Registrar, Enoch Addo noted that the transfers take immediate effect without assigning any reasons for the transfers.
The under listed officers have been posted from their current stations to new stations with immediate effect. Jessie Okpoti currently at Ngleshie Alata Traditional council moves to Prampram Traditional Council, Paul Lartey from Prampram Traditional Council to Shai Traditional Council, Maurice Nuonuo from Ngleshie Traditional Council to Osudoku Traditional Council, Ibrahim S.K. Auman is been moved from the Osudoku Traditional Council to Prampram Traditional Council while Evelyn Akuffo currently at the Tema Traditional Council moves to Osu Traditional Council.
The Traditional authorities have, therefore, expressed their disgust over the issue, stressing that they would love to have the registrars at post since majority of them were transferred to their respective locations not too long ago and they have distinguished themselves as true professionals, the transfers would no doubt affect the smooth running of their respective Areas.
For those within the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council, they believe that Prince Asharku Bruce Quaye and his cohorts are instigating the registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Enoch Addo, to get their surrogate to be posted to the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council to influence vacant positions in the regional jurisdiction by self styled Chiefs to take positions by any means possible
They believe this could lead to chaos and advised officials in responsible places not to use their positions for their selfish interest but to work and make the country a better place for all.
They appealed to Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, to intervene to ensure that the decision to transfer the registrars is overturned in other for them to continue the good works they have started already.
“We believe requesting for them stay to complete the good works they have started is in the right direction. If there are issues or allegations over his stewardship in the Traditional Area, we suggest that the right approach must be taken,” they stated.
The Chiefs and elders of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council however warned that they will not sit aloof and watch whiles wrongs and established laid down rules and regulations regarding the administration of the Council are trampled upon because a fake Chief wants to be gazetted and because Jessie is seen as a stumbling block she is been moved at all cost. This they said will be resisted at whatever cost.
