UnitedStates youngster GiovanniReyna also came off the bench late in the second half to make his return from injury.

Wolfsburg were reduced to 10 men moments later when FelixKlaus was shown a straight red card after VAR intervention for stepping on ManuelAkanji.

They have now lost five consecutive home games to Dortmund, the first team to do that at Wolfsburg, while Lucien Favre’s side have won their last six league games in a row.

Dortmund host league leaders Bayern in the league on Tuesday in a huge match in the title race.
