The Tekpebiawe Clan in the Ada Traditional Area has performed a ritual to invoke the spirits of the Songor deity and ancestors over all person involved in what they call dubious and arbitrary takeover of the Sangor Lagoon.
The Korle Wornor, Numo Amatey Apedo Ayornu, led elders, priests and priestess to undertake the ritual at Lufenya in the East Ada District of the Greater Accra Region.
The Tekpebiawe Clan has from the outset of the Songor takeover by Electrochem raised a flag that the deal between the company and the Asa Traditional Council is shady because the Tekpebiawe Clan which owns the Lagoon has been sidelined in the consultation processes.
The Clan therefore called for a broader consultation to extensively engage its elders for a fresh and satisfactory agreement but that did not materialise and work proceeded, resulting in several chaos between indigenes and the company.
The latest of such was an altercation between residents of Luhuor and Electrochem leading to alleged missing of a police pump action gun and a box of ammunition where about 40 people were arrested and currently standing trial.
According to Mumo Amatey Apedo Ayornu, the people of Tekpebiawe Clan are not against development of Songor, but that must be occasioned by a genuine deal with the relevant and rightful people as they have always called for. He noted that even Songor is said to belong to the people of Ada, Tekpebiawe is the bonafide owners and cannot be sidestepped in a deal concerning its property.
He to this end invoked the spirit of Nene Korle, who discovered Songor and all deities and ancestors to deal with every individual involved in the arm twisting transaction including their descendants for justice to prevail.
Numo Ayornu was appalled at Tekpebiawe, the real owners of the Sangor Lagoon being the fourth to sign the said agreement as though they are mere witnesses to a transaction concerning their own property.
He disclosed that Electrochem has started grading some communities including their cemeteries, an agenda to relocate the thousands of people and called for the implementation of the Songor master plan.
Priests and priestesses from Tekpebiawe Clan equally invoked the spirit of ancestors and the Songor deity tidal with all persons involved in the obnoxious Songor deal.
