Nungua Mantse, Dzaasetse In Land Theft

The Paramount Chief of Nungua, King Odaifio Welentsi III, and his Nii Dzaasetse, Nii Botwe Laryea II, have been fingered in numerous land theft cases by the residents of Nungua and its environs in the Greater Accra Region.

The so-called Nii Dzaasetse and the Mantse only use land guards to execute their dirty deals by invading private lands in a show of force to try and take the very land they sold from its’ rightful owners.

Just a month ago, our checks revealed that these two Nungua elders have stormed a private land with landguards to take over the piece of land belonging to one Mr. Sulley Salifu at Lashibi in Accra.
Even though, Mr. Sulley Salifu has erected a fence wall and single room on the piece of land with his caretaker residing while a welding workshop has been opened to also give maximum protection to that (Mr. Sulley’s) property, this couldn’t deter them from invading the land.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Mantse and his Dzaasetse sent their land guards to destroy properties of Mr. Sulley and the said welding shop while the matter is still in court. These elders claimed to have sold the land to another person for Gh400,000.
When he (Sulley) contacted the Dzaasetse to enquire from him about the land he sold to him some eight (8) years ago, only for the Dzaasetse to demand from Mr. Sulley Salifu another Gh200,000 in other for him to have his peace of mind.

For Mr. Sulley to settle the matter once and for all, he pleaded that he could only raise Gh60,000 for them to stay off his land on which the Mantse and his Dzaasetse agreed and warned him that failure to raise the said amount in few hours is tantamount to losing his land.

As time passes and ultimatum given expired, only for Mr. Sulley who is based overseas to be told that an unknown person had invaded his premises to dig a foundation on the instruction of the Nungua Mantse Nii Dzaasetse based on the reason for that act that they had sold the land to another person for Gh400,000.

Nii Laryea Botwe II, is said to have also shown airs indicating that if the owner tries to make any attempt on land then he will release his attack dogs on him.

This portal has gathered that Nii Laryea Botwe II, the CEO of Kpoo Kɛkɛ bitters moved to placed an interlocutory injunction at the High Court in Madina seeking to prevent the owner from occupying and further developing the land.

According to the facts of the matter, the land in question was sold to Mr. Sulley by the chiefs of Nungua led by the Dzaasetse in August 2013.

A land title registration covering the land shows that the 0.394 acre parcel situated at Lashibi, in the Tema Metropolitan Assembly was acquired in the 2013.However, for some years the land that has one room built on it by the owner catches the eye of the Mantse and his Dzaasetse.

Despite Mr. Sulley Salifu’s relatives staying and taken care of the land for him, this could not stop the chiefs from deploying their macho men to threaten and pull down his structures.

When contacted the Dzaasetse to hear his side of story, he confirmed the land was sold to Mr. Sulley Salifu by his brother.

GPRTU Kicks Against Proposed Road Toll Increment

The National Executives of Ghana Private
Road Transport Union (GPRTU) have said the union does not support the proposal by government to increase the current Road Toll prices.

In an interview with the media, the Senior Industrial Relations Officer (IRO) of GPRTU Greater Accra, Mr. Abbas Ibrahim Moro stated emphatically that the current fees being paid as Road Tolls are very high, saying any further increment, as being proposed by the government through the transport Minister will only come to worsen the plight of the members of the union.

He disclosed that, the road Toll issue has been discussed across several platforms.

“Our initial position has been that, we said is on the higher side, the current amount that we are paying is even on the higher side ,so how then do we have to pay higher tolls,” Mr. Moro opined.

He recalled, Just recently, the minority caucus in parliament in charge of transport, unanimously condemned the Toll price increment.

According to Mr. Moro, the minority group also condemned it, because out of the total revenue accrued from the toll tickets as declared by the Transport Ministry, not even half of the amount has been expended for its purpose, citing the bad nature of roads within the toll both areas.

He seized the opportunity to admonish the union members to stay calm whiles discharging their duties of conveying people and goods to and from various destinations.

“we are pleading with the government to listen to us,” Mr. Moro added.

Adding his voice , the Branch 7 Chairman of GPRTU , Tudu Lorry station, Mr. Wisdom Sedagah, dispelled the claim of using proceeds from the Road Toll in maintaining the roads, saying there are a lot of loopholes in the collection process and also most of the roads at the various toll booths are in deplorable state.

The Branch 7 Chairman further stated that, they as a union, do not welcome any Increment in road tolls saying this will take some money away from the poor driver whose income is already being reduced by costs such as; daily sales, service charge by the station per trip, maintenance, road toll fees and cost of Fuel amongst others.

” in actual fact, we are against the Increment of the Road Toll fees, the reason is that,

drivers who run to and from Akatsi-Abor pay three (3) tolls at different points namely; The Tema Motorway, Tsokpoli and Akatsi respectively for a round trip, these drivers does pay double road tolls,” Mr. Sedegah stressed.

In an interview with a commercial vehicle driver, he lamented on the nature of the Tema Motorway all through to Aflao, describing the port holes on this stretch as” dead traps ”
” if the Road Toll fees are increased to have a positive reflection on the nature of the roads, we as drivers do not have a problem,” he added.

Nii Boiman Homowo Celebrations Turns Bloody ……….As Destooled Yartey Boi And His Thugs Attack Dzaasetse

After he was destooled as Noryaa Mantse and restrained by the Ga Traditional Council and the Asere Kotopong Divisional Council in September 10, 2020, self styled Chief of Nii Boiman in the Greater Accra region, Elliot Yartey Boi and his thugs attacked the Dzaasetse of the area, Nii Ayi Mensah I.

Credible information picked by this portal indicates that the Dzaasetse and his household was attacked led by one Elliot Yartey Boi, the Destooled Chief of Nii Boiman on Saturday, the September 11, 2021 at his residence during the Homowo celebration.

Narrating the incidence to the press, the Dzaasetse of Nii Boiman Nii Ayi Mensah I, recalled that, one Numo Afran, the Custodian of Asere stool came to his house together with other Chiefs and an Asafoatse on the said day to have some discussions and at exactly 1pm, on the said day, he (Nii Ayi Mensah I) was seeing Numo Afran off to the roadside, they met Yartey with some thugs clad in red apparel amidst drumming and chanting of war songs with some Policemen seemingly providing escort and protection to the group.

According to him, upon meeting the thugs, they (Nii Ayi Mensah and Numo Afran) decided to give way so the thugs can have an easy way but within a split seconds, the Dzaasetse felt a hand around his neck, and raising his head, he realised someone amongst the thug has actually held his shirt at the neck area in an attacking manner.

According to Nii Ayi Mensah I, after raising his head for the second time, he saw Elliot Yartey Boi and other known faces including; Naa Otuah Shika Tsuru I, Nii Odzema I, Nii Amoo Dodoo, Nii Boi Sakafo I, Naa Ayinmah Mobonalo and Nii Amartey Okropon I amongst others.

“I asked them what do they want here, then they replied with the following questions; who are you, do you hail from Nii Boiman, amongst other questions alongside various insults as well as name calling and use of unprintable words on me,” the Dzaasetse recounted.

“You, we shall make sure you leave this town, we will kill you,” these were the words that came from the person who held the shirt of the Dzaasetse.

He continued by saying that, “I then called my children who quickly came to surround me and one of them guided me home and whiles on our way, they started throwing stones and other objects, targeting my home.”

According to the Dzaasetse, the thugs fired live bullets in the full glare of the Police who looked on unconcerned, whiles some of the thugs also threw stones and other objects into his compound.

Fortunately for Nii Ayi Mensah, the Asafoatse “Onukpa” (Head) was still around, waiting for him to return after seeing Numo Afran off. He quickly informed the Asafoastse Onukpo called the police help line to solicit for the support of the Police and unfortunately for us, the called placed by him went to the Tesano Police station and the Officers the station assigned to come to the scene were the same officers who were providing escort to the thugs.

Nii Ayi Mensah I, disclosed that one other disturbing occurrence was that one of his children sustained injuries on the forehead from a knife held by one of the thugs and one other son who was upstairs, also sustained injuries on the foot from some of the stones which were thrown into the compound of his house.

Nii Ayi Mensah I, also mentioned that a live pullet was fired at his car, a Toyota SUV which was sparked in front of his house, causing damaged to the trunk of the vehicle.

“I suspect a foul play on the side of the police because the District Police Commander of the Tesano Police station was amongst the officers who were protecting the thugs. Again, this same police officer is fully aware of the destoolment of Elliot Yartey Boi in September, 2020,” He added.

According to Nii Ayi Mensah I, when he reported the case at the Tesano Police Station, the station master was feeling reluctant to allow the charge Officer on duty at the time, receive his statement and till date, no Police Officer has been to the scene of the incident to either acquire first time information or begin any investigations whatsoever.

He also recalled that a copy of a letter preventing Elliot Yartey Boi from holding himself up as chief and further celebrating this year’s Homowo festival was served last week and a reminder letter was again handed over to this Police Officer in question on Friday, September 10th, 2021 thus, on the eve of the attack.

” I was astonished to see this same District police Commander whom we handed over an injunction letter to stop Elliot Yartey Boi from any celebrations just yesterday, and yet playing a major role at protecting and guiding the thugs to carry out such an attack on my family and I,” Nii Ayi Mensah I, stated.

He also mentioned that, he strongly believe the attack was a well planned one, because if not for mischievous reasons, why would the thugs decide to travel a distance of over 140 metres from the main Lapaz- Nii Boiman road, off the N1 Highway to come all the way to his house, which is the last but two houses on the stretch and has no other service route or road.

The Traditional Leader seized the opportunity to appeal to the President Akufo-Addo and the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to help bring the Police hierarchy at the Tesano Police Station to order whiles ensuring sanity and justice.

Delivery a speech at the maiden edition of a Community Durbar organised by the SDA Basic School located at Nii Boiman, the traditional leader expressed his joy to be part of the development of the School which begun in the 90s.

He recalled that the original plan for the the parcel of land being used as the SDA school, was for a market as well as a lorry station but through the toil and hard work of some people including himself, they relocated the proposed market and lorry park to a different location paving way for the construction of the Nii Boiman SDA School and has since remained the 1st and only Public School within the neighbourhood.

Nii Ayi Mensah seized the opportunity to pay glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the area for such an extraordinary achievement, especially looking at the the status of the SDA School now.

For her part, the Municipal Director of Education for the Okaikoi North Municipality, Mrs. Cynthia Aboni, charged parents to be very responsible for the needs of their children.

She continued by admonishing the parents to provide the needs of your children and also pay frequent visits to the School to find out how their children are fearing in school especially during instructional periods.

She also advised the parents to critically observe their children since the kind of attitude often exhibited by them in School is usually different from the attitudes they portray in their various homes.

This observation, she said, if properly undertaken, will bring out any anomalies and will help shape the attitudes towards becoming prominent and high moral personalities in the community and the country as a whole after successful completion of School.

She reiterated that School/Community relationship was crucial for achieving a sustained development.

“Those of you who have cobwebs in your wardrobe should turn up a new leave”, Mrs. Aboni stressed whiles advising the teachers.

The Municipal Education Director took turn to praise all hardworking teachers of the School while urging them to continue with the good and wonderful service.

Mrs Aboni seized the opportunity to thank the government for the support extended to the SDA School through the provision of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic era and the donation of over 100 pieces of Dual-Desk by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) for the Okai-Koi Municipal Assembly, Boye Laryea.

“The onus lay on you as students to take your studies seriously whiles eschewing all forms of moral decadence and be discipline both at home, school, community and the country at large”, the Education Director advised the students.

In an interview with the media, the Headmistress of the Nii Boiman SDA basic School, Madam Adwoa Gyankoma, called on the community to support efforts towards the progress on the school.

The Durbar also inaugurated members of the newly established School Management Committee (SMC) composed of traditional leaders, opinion leaders, representatives from Teacher/Parents Association (PTA), Corporate bodies, Unit Committee, old students, Educational Director and Opinion leaders amongst others who will serve as the liaison between the community and the School Management to help solicit funds to support the School towards the improvement of the infrastructure development of the School.

Mrs Gyankoma pleaded with the government and other corporate entities to support the school with infrastructural support, especially school building as well as construction of speed ramps on the main road in front of the School.

According to the Headmistress, this will enable the School to admit more students into the School who are hitherto being denied admission because of lack of adequate classrooms.

The speed ramp will also present accidents, which has become frequent due to overspending vehicles who often drive at though speed because of the smooth nature of the road in front of the School.

Mrs Gyankoma admonished the students to make positive use of the modern day Internet whiles eschewing the vices that often comes with technology.

Trust NDC With New Energy In 2024

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has ones again shaken the foundations of Ahafo with yet another emphatic statement, when he met the Regional House of Chiefs and the community in Goaso this morning.

“When two sheep knock their heads in a fight, each goes back, prepare and comes back with a bang. I want to assure you that, this is the stage the NDC is in now .

We went into a contest in the year 2020. The results has been clear to each and everyone of us. We went into an elections we know we didn’t lose, what happened at the various collation centres and in court is now behind us .

In 2024, we are coming back with a well prepared force for victory that no one can argue about. We are just like the sheep which has gone back and coming back with a victorious bang.

We are on a thank you tour because we know you voted for us and even if it were a single vote we got , we still would have come back to thank you.

Fortunately, the National Executives will be coming back for an outreach, these are processes that we will be undergoing to rebuild our party for the battles ahead.

Under normal circumstances, I should have come with just two words; “Thank You” and return. However we must take stalk of the various contributions you gave us for you to know we really appreciate it.

We all come out to vote looking forward to a better life. But look at the economic situation today, unemployment amongst the youth, etc . The NDC cannot fold its arms in despair, but will be willing at anytime to help in building our nation .

After 5 years , we still have abandoned road projects, school projects, hospitals amongst others . We must speak out on all these issues because it was not my money that was used to construct these projects but our collective taxes .

The NDC will surely be back to take this country to a higher height, he said.

I Won’t Be Distracted! …King Vows To Do The Needful Over GaDangme Lands

The Chief of Defense of the Ga State and the Chief Executive Officer of the GaDangme Lands Administration (GDLA) King Ayi Tunnmaa II, says he will not be disrupted from doing his work by handling and resolving all land conflicts, disputes, and litigations in the GaDangme traditional area, as calls by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHC) for him to dissolve the GDLA office.

According to him, he is committed in advocating and fighting for the rights of all GaDangme people to ensure that land litigation are resolved in the region and work towards a holistic development of the GaDangme indigenous.

King Ayi Tunnmaa II, was addressing the press in response to recent invitation by the GARHC in an introductory letter by GDLA asking the House to engage and collaborate with the GDLA.

Our reporter who was there reports that the Chief Executive Officer of the GDLA also addressed issues that will curtail, resolve land litigation and challenges associated in purchasing land in the Greater Accra region.

King Ayi Tunnmaa II, said calls for dissolving the GDLA are unfortunate saying the GDLA is rather offering administrative duties by processing and endorsing GaDangme traditional area lands before registration at the Lands Commission to avoid future land litigation.

He further stated that he is not worried about the calls for him to dissolve the office stressing that he remains committed to seeing collaboration with the indigenous traditional rulers in the GaDangme communities and other relevant stakeholders to put in place a purposeful and wells coordinated customary land tenure system and uniform procedures for land acquisition and documentation.

King Ayi Tunnmaa II, also outlined activities of the GDLA as enhancing proper records keeping and management of land records explaining that they offer administrative duties by processing and endorsing GaDamgme traditional area lands before registration at the Lands Commission to avoid future land litigation.

He noted that some transactions of acquired lands have not been noticed by the GaDangme and have not been compensated to the indigenous owners of the land and some expired leases have not still been negotiated.

King Ayi Tunnmaa II, expressed concern over how GaDangme lands have been taken away by the government without paying royalties.

He therefore calls on GaDangme indigenous to rally behind the GDLA in its endeavor to bring stakeholders to a round table and plan the way forward and also to achieve justice and sanity to prevail for the GaDangme natives.
